Irene and Friedrich Vorwerk Foundation awards outstanding bachelor's and master's theses in the field of urban planning

On 4 May 2023, a festive award ceremony was held for the best Bachelor's and Master's theses of 2022 in the field of urban planning at HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU). The Irene and Friedrich Vorwerk Foundation honoured seven outstanding Bachelor's degrees, three study projects and seven Master's theses. This award is part of the foundation's annual sponsorship prize, which has been honouring outstanding student achievements in urban planning since 2002. In total, more than 350 students have already been honoured.

The award winners received prize money of 500 to 800 euros each for their outstanding achievements. The works covered a wide thematic range and were highlighted by Mr Kleinfeldt, CEO of Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE, in his keynote speech. The topics ranged from climatic considerations to traffic and infrastructure measures to communication topics for bridging the gap between planning and implementation.

The HCU President praised the innovative approaches of the award winners and emphasised the increasing relevance of rethinking urban planning to meet the challenges of the future. The university is proud to promote this way of thinking and to actively participate in shaping the future. The award ceremony took place in the presence of guests of honour from politics and administration, including Mr. Walnsch (first district councillor of Tostedt), Ms. Randt (deputy district administrator of the district of Harburg) and Mr. Schönecke MdL (retired).

FRIEDRICH VORWERK warmly congratulates the award winners on their outstanding achievements and thanks the Irene and Friedrich Vorwerk Foundation for their commitment and generous support of the awards.
